It's been a busy year for Rookies; we had many new members who started their randonneuring careers in March or April of 2006 and went on to complete the entire qualifying series. Here they are.

Two other members, Michael Rowny and Wes Cheney were almost rookies, each having a prior season 200k to his credit.
Bill Beck went "rookie" all the way for the first ever DC Randonneurs' RUSA Dart event in September, creating Team Rookie. This very ambitious bunch put some well-seasoned veterans to shame by riding a greater distance in the 12 hour period than any other team and doing so over the most ambitious terrain, using a 30 mile stretch of Skyline Drive as the centerpiece of their route.
Bill also took on the job of ride organizer for the January Brevet of the Month, which featured fabulous weather, a scenic and historic route and a terrific pizza party at the finish. He couldn't have had a more impressive start to his randonneuring career. With all that to his credit, who else could we chose for Rookie of the Year? Well done Bill!
